Restoring “Desk” — desktops rebuilt, windows sent home
Two desktops, five windows — all dumped on the first. Try a restore:
How it works

Set the stage once. Never again.

A profile is a snapshot of your entire window arrangement. Make as many as your life needs — Desk, Laptop, Meeting, Deep Work.

Act I

Arrange

Set up your windows the way you actually work — sizes, positions, displays, even which desktop each one lives on.

Act II

Save

One click in the menu bar captures everything, across all your desktops — including minimized and fullscreen windows.

Act III

Trigger

Attach the profile to a display, a hotkey, a time, or a Wi-Fi network. From then on, restoring is automatic.

Triggers

Your layout knows when it’s needed

Restore a profile by hand whenever you like — or let StageSet do it for you the moment your context changes.

Schedule

“Weekdays at 9:00 → Work.” Your desk is ready before you are.

Wi-Fi network

Join the office network, get the office layout. Home network, home layout.

Shortcuts

Native App Intents. “When Zoom opens → Meeting profile” is a two-step Shortcut.

Beyond one desktop

It restores your desktops, too

Most window managers stop at the visible screen. StageSet captures every desktop in Mission Control — and puts each window back on the one it belongs to.

All Spaces, one snapshot

Capture sees windows on every desktop, not just the one you’re looking at.

Desktops recreated

Missing desktops are created on restore, and windows are moved onto them — verified one by one.

Panic button

One hotkey instantly hides a list of apps you choose. Not closed — hidden. Breathe.

Focus modes

A profile can flip your macOS Focus when it activates — Work layout, Work focus.

FAQ

Fair questions

Why does it need Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions?
Accessibility is how any window manager reads and moves windows on macOS. Screen Recording is what macOS requires just to read window titles on other desktops — titles are the only reliable way to tell real windows from the invisible helper windows apps create. StageSet never reads window contents and never records anything.
Why isn’t it on the Mac App Store?
The App Store sandbox forbids the Accessibility API entirely — no sandboxed app is allowed to move another app’s windows, so an app like this can’t exist there. StageSet is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple instead.
What happens to windows that aren’t in a profile?
Nothing. StageSet only touches windows it captured. Everything else stays exactly where you left it.
Does it work with multiple desktops (Spaces)?
Yes — that’s the flagship feature. Capture covers all desktops, and on restore StageSet can recreate your desktops and move each window onto the right one, verifying every move. It requires “Displays have separate Spaces” (the macOS default).

Stop rebuilding your desk. Set the stage.
